We are offering you a FREE resource that will help you get to know your community better so that your congregation can more effectively serve those in your ministry area and city. Most people hate gathering demographic information and trying to figure out what it means. The Percept Group has already done that for you.

3. Register as a user and then explore the website and your community.

You may be aware that the US Government is currently gathering census information for the 2010 national census. You might be wondering if the Percept demographic information is FREE because it is out of date. The answer is NO. Percept regularly updates its information through several sources so that it is as current as possible. It is FREE to you because Indiana Ministries has purchased a state membership that provides access for every church. (Did I mention it is FREE to you?) This will be available at least through March 2010. (Longer if we renew the annual contract.)
One of the really cool features is First View Maker. You can enter your church’s zip code and then receive via email a demographic report in an easy to understand format. OR you can request the report for a five-mile radius of your church. OR, and this is the really cool part, you can draw a polygon around an area surrounding your church and get demographic information for specific geographical segments. For example, you can use your mouse to establish the boundaries for an area to the west of your church, to the north, to the south and to the east. Then you get a report on each of those areas. And you can draw as many polygon boundaries as you desire and request as many of these reports as you like! Wow! What a deal! And its FREE for your church!!! Each of these reports would cost about $400 without the group membership.
Go on the website, register, and check it out. Even if you are not real internet savvy, click on links and see what happens. Investigate your community through the various reports. Then use the information to empower your staff, leaders and congregation to become more effective in making an impact for Christ.
The Percept Group offers free orientation on how to use their web site and will help you discover all the resources available to you. They have the technology to do the training on your computer (you’ll need a phone, too) via the web.
